Extraordinary Ivory & Gold Sultanabad Rug. 111 x 114 in.
Extraordinary antique Sultanabad rug with a spacious and symmetrical allover design centered around a bold medallion formed by soft coral and navy floral elements. The field is rendered in a muted ivory ground, adorned with a balanced layout of stylized palmettes, rosettes, leafy tendrils, and serrated vines. Accents of deep blue, Abrash red, and soft blue are interspersed throughout. Corner spandrels mirror the central motifs in composition, anchored by large, scrolling botanical forms. The main border, framed by multiple guard borders, is filled with a rosette and vinery pattern alternating in soft tones of camel, slate blue, and coral. Flanking guard borders use a meandering floral motif.
