East Turkestan Chinese Khotan Rug. 87 x 169 in.
Late 19th century Khotan rug — an exceptional example of East Turkestan weaving. With a unique lattice of medallions and pomegranate-inspired floral motifs in soft brick, apricot, sage, and olive tones on a warm golden field. The repeating circular medallions form a striking vertical rhythm, while the surrounding symmetrical botanical figures evoke both Central Asian and Chinese influences. Framed by a wide border with scrolling vinery and stylized rosettes.
